Because DiIC12(3) exhibits low toxicity and minimal effects on cell viability, this dye can be used to pre-label cells for a variety of applications. Corning DiIC12(3) Fluorescent Dye can be used to fluorescently label viable cells for assays such as tumor cell invasion or endothelial cell migration. Moreover, cells are known to tolerate different fluorescent dyes for varying amounts of time in culture. While cells labeled with calcein AM should be exposed to the dye for less than eight hours, DiIC12(3) can be used for several days in culture without adversely affecting cells.
